This twenty-hour training is based on practical exercises. The course focuses 30% on honing the participants MS Excel skills and 70% on the application of MS Excel in Financial Modelling. It is an on demand course, which means that the recorded lectures are available to learners. You will have one year access to the course, and there are downloadable Excel files for the lectures.

This course is for accounting and finance professionals who either have a minimum of two to three years of experience in accounting and finance or for students who are familiar with financial reporting and financial management

To enrol and begin this course, I expect the participants to have an intermediate level of Microsoft Excel knowledge. It must be noted that this program is not an MS Excel course; therefore, the focus is not on teaching Excel itself; it is about creating financial models using Excel. However, we do learn some advanced Excel functions to improve efficiency, increase speed, and use Excel more effectively.

Primarily, this course focuses on using Excel to prepare financial models for accounting and finance professionals. There are four focus areas.

1. Prepare the financial statement automations using the historical date available (imported) from your accounting software

2. Prepare the forecast financial statement (Profit and Loss, Statement of Financial Position, & Cash Flow)

3. Prepare the financial models for investment appraisal (capital budgeting) and calculate the net present value and IRR. We will analyze the impact on the final financial statement by changing the data inputs. 4. Performing Business Valuation using financial models in MS. Excel

If you are new to financial modelling, they will find videos starting right from the beginning and gradually progress forward.

Discounted Cash Flow
Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) is an important area covered here. Starting from the concept of DCF we will learn its application.

Capital Budgeting
We will build projects from scratch, build up relevant cash flows and use the NPV and IRR method using scenario analysis.  

Profit and Loss Case Study
In this section we will have extracted data from accounting software and we will learn how to quickly organize the data and automate our first Profit and Loss Statement.

SOFP & Cash Flow - Case Study
Continuing with the example of Profit and Loss, we will construct Statement of Financial Position and then produce a Statement of Cash Flow based on P&L and SOFP.

Business Valuation
Starting with the concepts of Business Valuation, we will value a business using different valuation techniques including FCF and FCFE and terminal value concept.
