CIMA E2 (Managing Performance) is a Management-level objective test in the Enterprise pillar of the CIMA professional qualification. It is for students moving beyond the operational level who want to understand how organisations create value through people, projects and relationships. E2 develops the management and leadership themes introduced in E1.

Most students need around 10 to 12 weeks, or roughly 120 to 150 hours, to prepare for the CIMA E2 exam. E2 is concept-driven rather than calculation-heavy, so understanding frameworks and applying them to scenarios is key. Active study, note-making and regular objective test practice keep the broad syllabus manageable.

The CIMA E2 syllabus covers business models and value creation, managing people performance, managing projects to deliver objectives, and managing relationships through influence, negotiation and leadership. E2 is a 90-minute computer-based objective test of around 60 questions at CIMA Management level. It is available on demand throughout the year at Pearson VUE centres or online via OnVUE. You should have completed or be exempt from the operational level before sitting E2. No specialist background is needed beyond that, as E2 explains management and leadership concepts in a clear, applied way.
